HISTORY

The Pittsburgh Holiday Banquet revives a tradition started in Pittsburgh in the late 1980s.

At its peak in 1989 over 4,000 people attended the event targeting underserved communities across the city. The event was ultimately held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center located in the center of downtown Pittsburgh.

The banquets featured live music, great food, hand made toys, and even a Steeler or two throughout the years.

The original banquets were organized by the members of the North Way Christian Community church in Wexford, partnering with churches and social organizations across Pittsburgh.

The holiday banquet was revived in part to honor the legacy of Dr. Jay Passavant, founding pastor of North Way, who passed away in August.

Pastor Jay was the visionary behind the original banquets in the 1980s. It was his desire to bring Pittsburgh families together in joyful celebration. We offer the banquet in the spirit of that same hope.

We would be honored to have you join us as we come together to revive this Pittsburgh tradition.

All are welcome!
